Franz Hartl Senior founds a company that dealt in freight, as well as gravel quarrying and processing.

The first gravel pit in Ennsdorf is opened by Franz Hartl Senior.

The family launches their own shipping company for extracting river gravel.

River gravel extraction and processing on the Danube starts up.

On taking over their father's business, the brothers Franz and Adolf Hartl adopted a new approach.  In fact, they were the real pioneers behind our modern crusher technology.

1977 - 1980

The development of the world's first mobile crusher unit: the POWERCRUSHER.  A fully mobile extraction unit on wheels with a high throughput rate.

Series production of the Powercrusher units started in Ennsdorf. 

The Powercrusher is followed by the first fully mobile recycling plant for concrete. 

1981 - 1997

Presentation of the Powercrusher Series at Conexpo in Chicago/USA.

Development and delivery of large international projects for ready-mix oncrete in Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia,...

Production of the first compact and mobile impact crusher with an apron feeder.

Introduction of a global first: a compact and mobile rock crusher the size of a 40-ft container that weighs under 30t and delivers a consistent average throughput of more than 100t/hr. A mould-breaking concept in the mobile rock processing sector, which has a very significant effect on the European market, in particular.

2000 - 2003

The company headquarters in Mauthausen opens a  modern office building in the contemporary architectural style.

Hartl Anlagenbau GmbH is founded by the sons of Adolf Hartl, as a 100% family owned company.

LATEST TECHNOLOGY AND EXCEPTIONAL DESIGN. The latest Crusher plants from the Powercrusher series are presented to specialists at trade fairs in Europe.

Gains the RED DOT DESIGN AWARD in Essen. The Powercrusher PC 1375 l is presented with the 'best of the best' Red Dot Award.

2003 - 2004

GOLD MEDALS AT IBR IN BRNO for Powercrusher PC 1375 l's innovative design and technology.

2006 - 2013

Hartl introduces the HCS 6015 - their version of one of the largest screener plants. 

The Young Economy "YOUNG AUSTRIAN ENTREPRENEUR PRIZE 2007" in the category 'A fresh wind in traditional sectors' goes to Hartl Anlagenbau.

2nd place in the EXPORT PRIZE 2008 in the 'Business' Category. The prize is awarded in the Vienna Palladium by Christoph Leitl, President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO), and Economy Minister Martin Bartenstein.

STARTUP OF THE PRODUCTION AND ASSEMBLY PLANT IN ST VALENTIN/THURNSDORF , AUSTRIA. The new production and assembly plant is built to the highest standard for plants producing mobile rock crusher units in Europe.
The first Powercrusher to be built in St Valentin leaves the plant.
INTERNAL CHANGE OF COURSE. Final merger of the plants and relocation of the business to St Valentin.

Introduction of the new Powercrusher product range PC1 to PC6 at BAUMA in Munich.

August 2010
Sale of Hartl Anlagen GmbH, better known as Powercrusher compact and  mobile screener and crusher plants, to the Swedish Atlas Copco Group. The company has been renamed Atlas Copco Powercrusher GmbH and is now an Atlas Copco SDE production company. 

Integration of the Powercrusher screener and crusher units into the Atlas Copco Product Portfolio and the successful transfer to and acquisition of the whole business by Atlas Copco SDE.

Founding of HARTL Engineering & Marketing GmbH as a 100% family business owned and run by Dominik Hartl and Alexander Hartl at its location in Mauthausen.


The company specializes in research and development of specialist machines and tools for the construction industry.

Concentrating on developing bucket crushers and screeners.
This high value, innovative range of products combines over 35 years' of experience and innovation in the development of rock crusher and screener plant under the name "HARTL Bucketcrusher".

The unique technology, and extremely sturdy, in part patented structure of these crusher units, which is combined with an excavator bucket, ensure a very high rate of performance and reliability in the natural rock crushing sector and the recycling of spoil By applying their unique technology to an extremely robust and in part patented structure, they have combined a crushing unit with an excavator bucket that guarantees high performance and reliability when crushing and preparing natural rock, and recycling spoil on site.

In April, a special presentation of the new generation of crushers and screeners to the official and international market will take place. 

At BAUMA in Munich, Germany, the new product range will be presented to the specialist public from round the world in Hall B2, Stand 226.

And the Red Dot goes to: HARTL ENGINEERING & MARKETING GMBH Austria, for the HARTL CRUSHER (HBC 950).

2014 - 2015

In 2014 Hartl sold their products in 39 different countries; 24 of them outside Europe.
